Total card consumption series includes more information than the sum category given non-classified transactions. In the case of the U.S., the data comes from the [[a target=%%_blank%% href=%%https://www.chicagofed.org/research/data/carts/current-data/%%]]Chicago Fed Advance Retail Trade Summary (CARTS)[[/a]], which tracks the U.S. Census Bureau||s Monthly Retail Trade Survey on a weekly basis. The index shows retail and food services sales, excluding automobiles.
